Our Events

We hold several events throughout the year, including monthly foster carer drop-in sessions for information and advice, the quarterly All Carers meeting with regular guest speakers, special one off training sessions aswell as annual family events.

Drop-in Surgery

We offer a monthly drop-in surgery for all of our members, whether they are mainstream carers, kinship or supporting lodging providers all are welcome from 11.30am onwards.

It's all quite informal, some carers come along to discuss specific issues, for general information and advice whilst, others simply come along for a brew and a chat.

Please get intouch via our contact page for further information on dates and venue details.

All Carers Meeting

Our All Carers Meetings are a great opportunity to meet representatives from Leeds Foster Care Association, hear the latest news from the fostering service, discuss key issues as well meeting up with other carers from across the city.

Held quarterly throughout the year, with childcare friendly timings, these have grown to become one of our most popular events in a carers support group and training calendar.

Previous guest speakers have included Rotherham whistleblower Jayne Senior MBE, youth justice specialist and author Andi Brierley, as well as representatives from Fostering Network, Battle Scars and the GMB Union.

Please get intouch via our contact page for further information on dates and venue details.

Training

We are able, through our member's annual voluntary contributions, to hold training events throughout the year.  These are sometimes incorporated into our quarterly All Carers Meetings, however due to the popularity of these, now also take place as standalone sessions.

We look forward to welcoming a previous guest speaker, Jayne Senior MBE, to present further training on child sexual exploitation sometime in the near future.

Previous training has covered subjects including self-harm, compassion fatigue, lifelong learning, income tax and national insurance.

Whilst our training events are open to all approved foster carers, including mainstream, kinship and supported lodging providers registered with Leeds City Council, advance booking is advised.

Please contact us for further details of forthcoming training events and booking details.

Summer Fair

Since the first summer fair back in 2012, our annual day of foster family fun has grown to become a mainstay and popular event, getting bigger and better every year.

This all inclusive event means that a foster family of upto five persons can enjoy a fun and activity filled day at just the small cost of one ticket!

We were thrilled to return following the global pandemic with our annual programme of family based events with the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Garden Party and Summer Festival.

If you or your organisation would like to support this event please do get intouch with us via our Contact Us page.
