Support

Support

There are various ways in which our members can access our support, whether this is via our telephone support line, email, face to face meeting or via our social media channel.

We can offer information and advice on a wide range of fostering related subjects, enabling the carer to act upon this themselves or in some cases by us advocating on their behalf.

Out of Hours Helpline

Our telephone helpline is available to our members, dealing with general calls during normal business hours to offering out of hours support when social care offices are closed.

Drop-in Surgery

Our Drop-in Surgery offers our members, whether they are mainstream carers, kinship or supporting lodging providers, the opportunity to come along for an informal chat.

Whether it's for general information and advice or to discuss something a little more specific you are very welcome from 11.30am until 12noon.

Stakeholder Meetings

We regularly attend a variety of different working groups, stakeholder meetings and corporate panels.  These enable us to raise, discuss and address key issues and concerns from across the fostering community directly with those responsible at social care and local government level.

Advocacy & Support

Aswell as providing our members with general fostering related information, advice and guidance, we are also able to advocate on their behalf in some instances were an issue may have been previously unresolved.

We are proud to have developed positive working relationships with our professional partners, enabling us to achieve a constructive resolution, improve and enhance the fostering experience for carers and their young people looked after.

Support Groups

Members of our Committee regularly attend the various fostering support groups that take place across the city, representing the Leeds Foster Care Association, providing an overview of the support available and gaining feedback direct from carers.

Allegations & Investigations

Facing an allegation is something that some foster carers will unfortunately experience during their fostering career.  It can be an extremely difficult and distressing time for everyone involved.

Should an occasion like this arise we provide our members with regular support, advice and guidance, whilst working towards the best outcome for all those concerned.
